FAVORITE DIVE:  The last one, or better yet the next one!
Ultimately, any dive that involves 'wildlife' is a great dive. It doesn't matter how big or how small, I am always excited to see anything moving in the water - nematode to whale shark, it all makes me happy! There is so much diversity out there that it is hard to disappoint!
FAVOURITE TYPE OF DIVE:  That is almost an unfair question if you ask me! Every dive is my favourite so it is relatively difficult to narrow the playing field down a little bit. If I had to choose just one dive or one particular type of dive, I would have to drift diving (wall or wreck). I like being in control of myself as a person and find diving in strong currents to be a challenge of both skill and character. One of my favourite experiences thus far in my dive history was diving at a coral atoll on the very edge of the Sahul continental shelf. It was a wall dive in 5km deep water with nothing but water so dark below me it was black. The abundance of life and colour along the wall that we were diving was nothing short of incredible! The drift aspect of the dive meant that we were also doing little work in the grand scheme of things, we just let the water carry us along the length of this wall. Memories of this dive trip will live with me forever.
HISTORY:  Saskia certified in Calgary in early 2006 during break while attending university. Studying the marine and aquatic sciences meant she had a natural curiosity and desire to continue through the diving education ladder in a quest to learn more. After nearly eight years as a Divemaster, Saskia became an Open Water Scuba Instructor to help better share her love for the underwater world with others; her enthusiasm and excitement to do so is infectious.
ON DIVING:  I was always told that as a child I could swim before I could walk. As a result of this, I suppose it was only natural that I have always had a love for the water, be it the ocean, a lake or a river. If I am around water I am comfortable and happy. Diving has allowed me to both satisfy my curiosity to learn more about the underwater world while also visiting a part of the planet that many people can only dream of seeing. The sport of diving also offers me the chance to continually learn and apply my skills in a variety of environments where no two dives are ever alike. The best part about diving is being able to share the experiences I have with others, be it an old friend and dive buddy or a dive buddy in the making (students!).
DIVING RECOMMENDATIONS:  Take the plunge! You know you want to!!!
